Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 1966

Germany was represented by Margot Eskens, with the song "Die Zeiger der Uhr", at the 1966 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 5 March in Luxembourg City. For the first time since 1959 the German entry was chosen internally, rather than through a public final, by broadcaster HR. Eskens had previously finished third in the German national final in 1962.
== At Eurovision ==
On the night of the final Eskens performed first in the running order, preceding Denmark. Voting was by each national jury awarding, 5, 3 and 1 points to their top 3 songs, and at the close of voting "Die Zeiger der Uhr" had received 7 points (5 from Switzerland and 1 each from Belgium and Italy), placing Germany joint 10th (with Finland and Luxembourg) of the 18 entries. The German jury awarded its 5 points to Belgium.〔(ESC History - Germany 1966 )〕
